FIT GUIDENLINES/HELP

MEASUREMENT GUIDELINES:

Bust: Taken directly under the armpits. This is your bra size. For items with stretch we give an estimate of the various sizes it will fit, for example, 32-34.”

Shoulders: Measured across the top of the garment from shoulder seam to shoulder seam.

Sleeves: This measurement is taken from the shoulder seam to the end of the cuff.

Waist: For pants and skirts, measured across the very top. For shirts and dresses, measured at about 6-8 inches below the armpit.

Hips: For pants and skirts, measured about 7-8" inches down from the waist. For shirts and dresses, measured at about 14-16 inches below the armpit.

Length: For skirts, measure the front center of the garment from the top of the waist to the bottom of the hem. For shirts and dresses, measured from the shoulder seam to the bottom of the hem.

Inseam: Measure along the inside leg from the crotch seam to the bottom hem.

Rise: Measure from the crotch seam up to the top of the waistband in the front.

Flare: For pants, measure at the end of the pant leg across the bottom opening.

Sweep: The sweep is the circumference of the bottom hem of a skirt, dress, coat, or jacket. For a jacket or coat, we measure the sweep across the bottom hem from open edge to open edge. For a skirt or dress, we measure the sweep by laying the garment flat with seams matched, measure end-to-end, then double. The sweep measurement gives you a good idea of the fullness of the garment at the hem area.

VINTAGE vs. CONTEMPORARY SIZING: Vintage sizes  are just an ESTIMATE - as most vintage sizes are different from sizing today. Please pay attention to the measurements to determine the fit for you. It helps to measure a similar item that you own (that fits you well) and compare the numbers. If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!
